In third place was a six-bedroom, seven-bath, 11,0000-square-foot estate on more than a half-acre. Old Hollywood movie stars could easily be imagined carousing around the elegant swimming pool.

Coming in second was a listing for a three-bedroom, three-bath loft promising fine European craftsmanship, grand proportions and views, in a full-service luxury building set on one of Manhattan’s few remaining cobblestone streets.
